Flat World

We’ve shrunk the earth.
No longer expanses of endless dirt.
Overarching eyes.
We can see like we’re the skies.

But what all have we gained
If we win the world and lose the soul?
If this were still a flat world,
Would we lose the world and win our souls?

Travel to the edge.
Open eyes to the curve.
When the signal’s dead,
It’s then the voice is heard.

Filters over oblivion
Can fulfill the itching eye;
Yet the photographs of fields
Aren’t where the flowers lie.

So what all have we gained
Since we won the world and lost the soul?
The mechanisms of progress
Have left us void instead of whole.
