Here Now

We don’t want to forget
But these precious fleeting moments
Are determined to break free
Right before our eyes
It’s all encoded into digits
That may never be retrieved

Be here now
Walk as if your feet are embracing the dirt
Live here now
Once this is over we’ll be fuel for rebirth

Look down at the glass
This idol of remembrance
Will distract from what comes next
Capturing the memory
With lens and muffled noise
Leaves you feeling less

Be here now
Every step forward leaves a mark on the past
Live here now
Set your mind on this moment because moments don’t last

You can always look back through a scrapbook of ghosts
But devoid of the presence you’ll have paper at most
